Doing the same as before, everything except motherboard and SSD has power. It did not make that same "dack" sound at all. As scientific method as this can be, I powered it up and shut it down 10 consecutive times. Then I yanked my SSD from my desktop case and put it into a hard drive dock (Thermaltake Duet). I held it up to my hear, as well, to make sure that it was the SSD and not something on the motherboard. 6 of those 10 times I heard that same muted "dack" sound a moment or two after the POST beep. I powered up and went into the BIOS 10 times. The only thing that had any power was the SSD and the 24-pin to the motherboard. So on to the testing!Īs I previously mentioned, I unplugged the power to all of my moving components (case and CPU fans, GPU, and SATA power to the hard drives. I still don't believe that a SSD should be making any noise, except maybe a bit of whine or hum due to the electric components.
